THE VIBRANTS
Origin: London, England
It was an eventful 2007 for The Vibrants, an unsigned quintet from London that’s been steadily building a buzz through incessant touring in both the UK and North America. Drawing upon influences ranging from The Who to The Police and Talking Heads, The Vibrants are rapidly building a rep as one of the most exciting and…um, “vibrant”…new live acts on the scene. The summer of 2007 featured shows at KoKo World Environment Day and Canadian Music Week, plus a second appearance at North by Northeast, where the group performed three times, including the official opening and closing parties of the festival. The fall of last year witnessed the digital release of the group’s Retaliate EP, which helped lead to support slots with such fellow up-and-coming acts as Guillemots, Nine Black Alps and The Subways, among others. The new year started on a high, with the band playing with Mika and The Feeling for the launch of the new Fiat 500, a performance that inspired glowing reviews and led to Fashion Week invitations. In February the group entered the studio to record a new EP, to be followed by a North American tour starting in late April here at MUSEXPO and culminating once again at Toronto’s NXNE.
