Chain Reaction was where the Say No To Neon tour was to be held on February 15, 2009. There was a pretty good number of kids there when I got there, an hour before doors. I met up with Chris to interview one of the guys in Valencia. This is where George, bass player, came in. He was really nice and the interview went pretty great.

One of the openers on February 15 was Artist Vs Poet. They are one of the newly signed artists added to the Fearless Records list. First off, I have heard them before—a lot of pop and I didn’t like it—but they changed my mind this night. Artist Vs Poet possesses such great stage presence that it’s hard not to get into their music while watching them on stage. All the members get the crowd so pumped, I was even starting to like them. After the crowd was fired up a little more then already Houston calls came out. They were direct support for Valencia and they did a good job at pumping the crowd up.

Finally it was time for Valencia, opening their show with the song HOLIDAY. Shane came out with strong vocals and so energized for the show. The band brought a pretty good number of people out on this Sunday night. The guys were so full of energy on stage. George was all over the place just rocking out, as was everyone else in the band, and you could really tell everyone was enjoying themselves.

The crowd of kids seemed to dig the band—well, at least the front half of the crowd. It seemed to me that some of the people were just there to be there, or maybe it was their first show and they didn’t know what to do, I’m not quite sure. What I mean by this is that the front half of the crowd was crazy, rocking out and having such a good time, while the back half was just standing there looking like they didn’t know what to do with themselves. Oh well, all that really matter is that Valencia pulled off a great set on this night.

Valencia’s music reminds me of the old Starting Line and a little bit of Blink-182. I have never seen these bands live but Valencia pulled off a good set. Their closing song of the night was THE SPACE BETWEEN. I thought this to be a pretty perfect song to end with because of how the song goes; Shane belts out “There's something strange going on in my head that says if I were to get in a car right now

North Carolina is where I would end.” The band went all out in this song and Tarcy from Artist Vs Poet even came out and sang along with Shane. For the most part the crowd was really into the song, George even put his bass down towards the end and went in the crowd! After, the crowd wanted even more, but in my opinion I thought the song choice was a great way to end their set this evening.
