Aaron Barnhart’s songs make me feel good. Each song conveys a sense of passion and love for life, regardless of what happens, and his lyrics are as genuine as can be. The new CD “Missing Pieces” easily puts you in a good mood and tells us that life is a gift that is filled with struggles and hardships, but that the “missing pieces” always seem to come back together somehow.

Aaron is a talented singer and musician no doubt, but his talent as a songwriter is what especially makes this album enjoyable. “One More Second Chance” and “Sling and Arrows” are perfect examples of his authenticity as not only an artist but also a person. His belief and understanding in life’s frailty and importance come across in every song in this very heart-felt album.

The more upbeat and feel-good melodies of “Whatever You Get” and “Another Day” is a celebration of life that is much needed. It’s good to see that his message is displayed loud and clear and that his passion is oozing from each word he sings. There’s nothing better than knowing that the artist loves what he or she is doing.

Though nothing extraordinary, Aaron’s album addresses the important things in life and pays close attention to the details that compose it. There are no ground-breaking themes or ideas, but the simplicity is greatly appreciated, especially in this age of over-worked and over-performed music. Each song immediately relates with an emotion and subject and doesn’t fail at entertaining the listeners with variety.

Overall, Aaron’s new album is a great model on how life should be viewed. The album can teach you a thing or two about life, and that’s amazing and successful for any artist to convey so important a message. Aaron hasn’t given us the album of the century, but his music is still well-developed and easily enjoyable. The new album, “Missing Pieces” is a great addition to anyone’s music collection that effortlessly conveys to us the intelligence and aspiration of what a true musician sounds like.
