Hailing from the burgeoning music scene of Bristol, England is Red Vein, a straightforward alternative pop quartet at the forefront of a new movement that’s all about sticking to your guns and being unafraid to do what others won’t. Their sound, which has been described as both “melodic, rollercoaster rock” and “beautiful, dark pop music that washes you away like the first whiskey of a hangover,” has drawn comparisons not only to such New Wave-era masters as Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, but also to ’80s icons like the Cure, New Order and Depeche Mode. The four-piece, which consists of Ollie Smith, Adam Smith, Steve Hove and Alex Cole, recently self-released an EP on iTunes, The Thrill that Kills, and followed up its release with a dizzying series of five shows over the span of 40 hours during a whirlwind weekend in New York City in October.
