If a movement's purpose is to influence change and evolution, then KILL THE ACADEMY will no doubt be added to the ever so decreasing list of hard rock bands that exist for all the right reasons, helping to provide a soundtrack for the underdog, the fighter, the thinker, bruised, broken, the love struck, diseased and everyone in between. What began in 2003 in North Carolina with founding member, and guitarist [Kyle Peters] soon moved to the west coast with over 8 songs, and a need for a new band. People who could interpret the songs with the right attitude and dedication needed to elevate this music to the status it was destined for, and deserved... the live show. After a brief line up and name change in early 2007, KTA has finally found it's core with [Sean De La Tour] as lead vocalist/ rhythm guitarist and keyboards, [Kyle Peters] Rhythm and lead guitars and [Michael Thomas] Drums/Electronics .The band shares a few common threads, most notably past experiences playing in bands together, and touring in support of friend's bands up and down the west coast. “I remember touring with Sean’s old band GBA while A Blinding Silence was opening each show, and always asking myself why it's taking so long for us both to be free agents at the same time so that we can be in a band together " - [Michael Thomas] Eventually, the time came when Sean focused more time in finding a sound that best suited what he represented as an artist, which came at the right time for Kyle and Michael. Sean not only brought the leadership and voice needed to complete the songs, but he also brought the musical sensibilities needed to fill the space of the music and the direction it would soon be taking. After the debut performance with the new line up in July 2007 at the world famousTroubadour in Hollywood California, it was clearly obvious that the void had been filled, and the focus became clear. Now each soundtrack will provide the destined approach and message, and KTA will be the first to inform you that change is and always will be required to maintain the bands message and name for years to come. "So don't get to comfortable, and neither will we. After all, that is art in it's purest state. Uncomfortarble and uncompromisable" - [KTA] Kill The Academy are currently mixing their debut EP due out early in 2008, and are touring throughout Southern California with plans to tour the states in 2008.
