Jordan Pruitt is living a superstar dream. With her album releasing early this month and just finishing up touring with Disney's hit "High School Musical"--Jordan is definitely no ordinary Girl!
Jordan: Hi, I’m Jordan Pruitt and as you may know, my debut album "No Ordinary Girl" just came out
BN: So is singing something you’ve always wanted to do?
Jordan: Oh yes, my whole life!
BN: Your album is titled, "No Ordinary Girl", How did you decide on that album title?
Jordan: Well it’s obviously one of the songs on the album, and I think it says a lot about who I am as a person, my values and my morals.
BN: How did you feel about the release, considering it came out a week ago?
Jordan: Oh my gosh, it was the coolest thing ever!
BN: You just finished touring with "High School Musical" right?
Jordan: I did
BN: How was that? That must have been crazy, considering the size of the venues.
Jordan: It was so much fun, that last venue had like 17,000 people. So it was like really crazy, so I had to like last the whole tour.
BN: Did you get to hang out with the rest of the cast? Was it hard to? I know there are a lot of cast members.
Jordan: No definately not *laughs*
BN: Is there a theme on this album?
Jordan: I think the album is basically about what people my age go through, that basically sums it up.
BN: You co wrote a lot?
Jordan: I co wrote 12 of the 14 songs on the album.
BN: So can you tell us more about that process, where did you get your inspiration from?
Jordan: We wrote the songs about what I was going through at the time, and what I am still going thru and what I went thru. I don’t know if you know this, but I wrote with Keith Thomas, my producer and Robin Scoffield, we were a team and we wrote the whole album together and we will write the next few albums together as well. It was just a great process, sometimes I would come up with a melody, sometimes he would, and we are just a great team and a great collaboration.
BN: Are you already working or recording another album?
Jordan: I write every now and then and so do Keith and Robin, we toss ideas around. I think I will start writing for it in about a month or so.
BN: My personal favorite song is, "outside looking in" That’s a song I can see a lot of people relating to.
Jordan: I actually started writing that in 6th grade, That was a really tough year for me, because your finding out who you are and who you want to be in life, I was left out for doing the right things, I'm a good girl *laughs*
BN: Who were your musical influences?
Jordan: Probably Hmm, Celine Dion is a good one, Natasha Bedingfield, Jojo BN: What has been your most memorable performance to date?
Jordan: I'm gonna say probably the last one at the staples center in LA. Because it was like 17,000 people. It was really crazy and I was kinda sad, I didn’t want to go home, gotta be home now
BN: Are you out in LA?
Jordan: I am based in Nashville
BN: What are your future plans, solo tour?
Jordan: Probably in about a year or so, I am guessing, ya, I don’t know what is in store
BN: Your still really really young, is it hard to be in the music industry at this age?
Jordan: Not Really, I think its more, I think it’s easier for people who have passion to do it, singing and writing is my passion. People are like, Is it hard to perform every night, I just think of it as the coolest and funnest thing, I don’t think of it as work at all.
BN: What advice would you give to a person trying to break into the music industry?
Jordan: Probably to never give up. I started making my demo cd in 5th grade, at times it got hard, but I never gave up, I persevered, ya know? Hey, my Album just came out. I’m so blessed.
BN: If you weren’t singing, is there another career you might have pursued?
Jordan: I think singing is definitely it for me!
BN: If you could do a duet with any artist, who would it be?
Jordan: I am not really into duets, nope
BN: What message would you give to all your fans out there?
Jordan: I would say, to always be yourself, to stay true to your heart and to know who you really are.
