This past May I was able to attend the Florida Music Festival, a three day non stop party, celebrating Florida's local music scene. While I was there I had the opportunity to check out an AMAZING band from the Tampa area, called 10 Second Drop. With their unique style and stage presence they truly set themselves apart from the all of the other bands performing at the festival. 10 second drop adds a new edge to the Rock music scene. For more info on these talented musicians check out their website http://www.10seconddrop.com
10SD: 10 second drop has a different meaning for different people. Some people think it is a skydiving reference, some think it has something to do with boxing. Someone even told us they thought it was that moment when your life flashes before your eyes. We usually just say 'Yeah, cool that's it.' We like the name because it gives you a feeling of action, movement and speed. Plus we were all out of ideas, Ha!
BN: What is your take on the rock music industry today?
10SD: I think it's going back to straight up hard rock. Every few years things will get different and mixed up but it always goes back to rock. That's why we feel we are
in a good place to be on top of the next wave.
BN: What are the band’s favorite songs on your current CD?
10SD: I think we all like 'Envy' and 'Too Late'
BN: Favorite song to perform live and why?
10SD: 'Envy' is always a favorite, but we have a new song that we are finishing recording called 'If I believed.' That one comes off really well live
BN: Would you consider winning the Rolling rock battle of the bands your most exciting
Moment as a group? If not what has topped that, or come close?
10SD: That was a great time and we got to play with Tantric and Oleander. We always try to have fun in whatever we're doing. I think this years 98 Rock ' Livestock' festival was cool. We played to several thousand people and had Stone Temple Pilots check out part of our set from the side of the stage. I think the crowd didn't realize we were an unsigned band. They were diggin' it.
BN: Is there a specific message you are trying to deliver to your fans through your music?
10SD: No. People are free to draw their own conclusions and find their own message.
You know, maybe they've been in some of the same situations we've been in and dealt with the same issues in relationships.
BN: Who or what gives you inspiration to write your songs?
10SD: Most, if not all, of our songs, lyrically, are about interpersonal relationships.
Some are love relationships; some are about messed up people we've known. We're
just talking about experiences we've had with the many people who come through our lives.
BN: Any upcoming tours or big events you are most looking forward too?
10SD: I’ll have to check the website and see where we're playing. Ha!
BN: What advice do you have for a band or individual artist trying to make
it in the music industry?
10SD: If you do a show with 10 Second Drop make sure you buy us a beer! Ha
