Can
you start by giving some background information
about the band?
We
started in Raleigh, NC about three and a half years
ago with Jason(lead vocals and guitar) and Scotty
(bass guitar). Paul (guitar and back up vocals)
and Michael (drums) were long time friends of the
band and they were eventually asked to join and
make the puzzle complete. We are all really good
and close friends. I would say that it feels more
like we are family than friends. We all enjoy the
coast and have lived at the beach at one time or
another. We all live in Franklin, Tn now and are
gearing up for our first tour as signed artist.
We'll be leaving March 5th on the Fearless Planet
tour with Sonic flood.
How
long did it take to decide on a name for your band?
What does Building429 mean?
It
probably took a month to find the name for the band.
I just remember it being a long and tedious process.
The name actually comes from the book of Ephesians
chapter four verse twenty nine which says "Let
nothing bad come out of your mouth but only that
which is helpful for building others up according
to their needs that it may benefit those who hear
it." We heard of a youth group who had instituted
the 429 challenge to help encourage each other.
So we took the name Building429 to remind us that
we are all held to a higher standard and to continually
build relationships and encourage each other in
Christ.
How
would you describe your music?
I
would say that it's very honest and that it's filled
with hope and grace. You put all that with straight
ahead modern rock and you'll have Building429.
Most
meaningful song on the EP, and why?
Glory
Defined, because none of us understand the fullness
of God. We can't understand the extent of His mercy
and grace but one day when we meet Him face to face
we'll see all of His majesty and glory defined.
Have
you heard your single on the radio yet? If yes,
how did it feel to hear your music on the radio
for the first time?
Yes,
it was pretty crazy. We were all calling each other
and yelling. We just couldn't believe that it was
actually getting played on the radio.
You
have been doing many shows lately. Describe a day
on the road with Building429.
A day on the road for us usually consist of us leaving
supper early and traveling all morning and all day
to the next show. We all take turns driving while
the others sleep. We really have a good time on
the road despite all the driving and traveling.
We are so excited to be on tour with Sonic Flood
in March, April, and May. Being on the road and
meeting with people is really where our heart is,
and is really what it is all about.
What
do you like to do in your free time?
We
like to hang out with our families, see movies,
go to the park, play basketball...all that good
stuff.
What should people expect when they pick up a copy
of your EP in April? Is there anything specific
you want them to get from your music?
They
can expect to get a good quality product that has
had a lot of prayer and effort poured into it. Did
I mention that it rocks! If there was one thing
that I wanted people to get is that there is a whole
lot of forgiveness and freedom in Christ.
Many
aspiring singers/bands come to BandNation.com. What
advice would you give them?
I
would tell them to persevere, be patient and continually
seek Gods will for their lives because He's never
wrong.
Do
you have any rituals you have to do before you get
on stage and perform?
There's
not really any kind of rituals. We usually just
try to relax and we always pray before we go on.
Anything
else you want to say to Bandnation.com readers before
you go?
We
are so excited about everything that is going on,
and about what God is doing with Building 429. Please
check out our EP that will be released on April
6th, and check out our website at www.building429.com
for tour dates with Sonic Flood in March, April,
and May.
We
love you guys and cannot wait to see you all at
some upcoming shows!
