Why
don't we start with you introducing yourselves to
our Bandnation.com
readers.
Hey,
I'm Christopher Wade, lead singer of April Sixth.
So
how did you guys get together?
Brian
and Robert had a fight with this
chick, whom they were driving with and they said,
"Forget this." and
started walking home. Low and behold, as fate would
have it, they passed
by the coffee house where I was in the middle of
my TWO AND A HALF HOUR
SET!! That's right, I had to fill up 2 1/2 hours
of acoustic covers and
originals. Before a break, I played one last song,
called "Dear Angel" I
guess it sparked something with Robert and Brian
because afterwards they
came up to me and asked me if I was looking to start
a band. Since
they didn't have a ride home, so I gave them one
and they in turn gave me a
couple guitar players! :)
The
story behind the name is kind of interesting. How
did you come up with
your name?
There
was this show that was on Saturday, April
Sixth. So in order to promote the gig we were making
up fliers. Since
we didn't like our name at the time (which was Cornerstone)
we just merely
put "Saturday, April Sixth at Fairmount Park."
Everyone took it
as, "Saturday, 'the band' April Sixth at Fairmount
Park". So from then on
everyone called us April Sixth and it stuck.
How
would you describe your style of music?
A
little bit of sweet goodness,
mixed with some butt-kicking red peppers!
In
Memory is your debut album, is there any specific
message you are trying
to get across with your music?
This
is who we are, this is where we come
from, and this is who we will be.
What
is the significance of the album title?
There
was so much blood spilt,
so many tears cried, so much sweat poured, so many
times of being on the top
of our game and many times of being on the bottom
of it. We had just went
through tons of emotion and we wanted to dedicate
our debut record of everything
we went through in order to get where we are today.
Your
album is set to be released over the summer. Are
you nervous at all
about that?
Are
you kidding?!?!? I've been waiting my whole life
for
this!! The release can't come soon enough for me!!!!
How
long did it take you to make the album?
It's
been the longest process I
could have every imagined, just because of the ups
and downs we've been
through. I would say it's probably taken us a year
and a half to get it
together! Way too long for my taste if you ask me.
What
should people expect when they come to see April
Sixth perform at a
live show?
That
when an April Sixth show is over, you say, "I
want more! When are
they playing around here again!" We want our
fans to be entertained and
given the most energetic show they're every seen.
We want to be in your
face, and we want you to be in our face!!! It's
wild!
What
is your favorite song on the album and why?
I
go back from song to song, but if I had to choose
one, I would have to say, "Dear Angel"
Favorite
moment so far as performances?
The
first time I played a big, BIG show. It was with
Face to Face. There were like 2 thousand kids just
screaming their heads off! I think I stage dove
like 30 times that night
in our set!! It was a blast!
I
listened "Dear Angel" Who wrote it and
what was the inspiration behind
it?
I
wrote that song when I was 17. I was living with
my grandma McCracken,
and I would just lock myself in my room at night
and play till like 4 in the morning.
I was going through a hard time back then, trying
to figure out what my life was
for and why things happen the way they do. "Dear
Angel" is a letter that I wrote
to my first "love". I didn't understand
why we couldn't be together and that just ripped
me
apart. I know everyone has felt that way one or
more times in their life.
What
are your plans for the near future? Are you touring
right now?
We're
touring with Crossfade in May. We plan to tour,
tour, tour, and tour. We just
want to get out there and meet everyone, and share
our music with the world.
So the future holds many, many days of touring!
What
do you like to do in your free time?
I
like to drink 6 cans for
ROCKSTAR Energy drink, go in my room, close the
door, turn off my lights,
blast a good rockin' cd and just let loose in my
room. It's always fun to
have your own, crazed-out rock show!...isn't that
normal? Doesn't everyone
do that?....oh
Anything
else you want to say to our readers before you go?
I
have a clothing line coming out soon! It's called
Pink is Punk Clothing. The
website is www.pinkispunkclothing.com. There's not
much up now, but I'll
have guys T's, girl's tanks, zip-up hoodies, stickers,
and buttons in a
couple months. So, make sure you watch out for it!
And kids....always
remember, "SELL OUT"!
